Welcome to Room 6

A warm welcome to all the parents and students in Room 6.
It is great to have you in Team 2.
Thank you for getting all the children's stationery. They are proudly working in their books now.

Here are some housekeeping things to get you started.

Reading books come home on  Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The children read the same book for two nights. This is useful  for developing fluency. The first time they read, they are trying to make sense of the words, match the pictures to the words etc. So the second time through helps actually read.  Asking them to tell you what the book is about is a great idea.

Swimming is on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The students need togs, towels, swimming caps. Plus it is a good idea to have a bag to put their swimming things in.

We don't have a school library to use this term, but we have  library books to take home on Thursdays.

Brain snack- is only  a five minute break, for students to get a drink, eat some fruit or use the toilet. It is helpful to do things like cutting apples in halves. They only get about 5  minutes to recharge.

A special thank you to the one Mum who turned up at the 'Back to School' evening. It was great to talk to you.

As the children develop their new independence, learning routines etc please support them by talking to them about their day. If you ask 'What did you do?"  they can find it overwhelming. Asking if they have learned a new word, or written a story is a smaller question for them to think about and possibly easier to answer.

Have a great week.
